2007 Invitation
Official Announcement
Dear Monastic Sangha Friends,
This is the official invitation for the 2007 Western Buddhist Monastic Gathering that will be held at the City of the Dharma Realm in Sacramento, California April 9-13 (Monday PM- Friday AM).
Theme: To be announced.
Who may attend: This conference is open to ordained monastics (at least ten precepts) from all Buddhist traditions and orders who follow traditional vows, including observing celibacy, and who live in North America, but it is particularly relevant for monastics born and/or raised in the West.
Purpose of the gathering: To create ties of friendship amongst Sangha members who are often living on their own or in communities where they are isolated either by ordination or by culture. During these gatherings we learn from each other and have a relaxing time-out from our familiar routines in a supportive monastic environment.
Cost: No charge. All of the services at the City of the Dharma Realm are offered on a dana basis. If you would like to offer support you are welcome to do so.
Meals: Formal meals are not offered after noon. Certain allowable items will be available to all participants throughout the afternoon. For those with a medical need, food can be eaten in the evening. Please let us know if you will need to have food in the evening when you register.
